Help & FAQ
Everything below describes what the app actually does today. If your question isn't here, email Fuuqiu@gmail.com — it reaches the developer directly.
How do I set my start date?
Onboarding asks for it on the first screen, and you can change it any time from the counter screen. Both steps of onboarding are skippable — if you skip, the counter starts from the moment you opened the app.
I broke no contact. Does resetting erase everything?
No. Resetting archives the round you just finished and starts attempt 2 — your previous streaks stay in your history, and your journal is untouched. Relapse is normal in this process, so the app never shows you a shaming screen for it.
What does the urge button actually do?
It opens a full-screen calm-down timer with one reason not to send the message. There are 108 pieces of content across six situations (late night, saw their post, drinking, they reached out, an anniversary, plain loneliness), so it does not cycle the same few lines. 'Give me another' pulls a different one, and the crisis resources are one tap away.
Where is my data stored? Can I get it out?
On your device only — there is no account and no server. If you have iCloud enabled, a private copy syncs to your own iCloud container so you keep your history when you change phones. You can export everything as plain text at any time from the You tab, free, whether or not you ever subscribe.
Does the app work offline?
Yes, entirely. Nothing in Unhooked requires a network connection, including the crisis resources page.
How do the widgets work?
Long-press your home screen or lock screen, tap +, and search for Unhooked. There are home screen widgets in two sizes and lock screen widgets (circular and inline) so the count is visible without opening the app.
What notifications will I get?
Three kinds, all optional and configurable in the You tab: a daily nudge for your repair-path task, a heads-up before milestones (day 30, month 3, and so on), and — only once the app has enough of your own urge entries to be confident — a quiet reminder before the hours you have historically found hardest. That last one is silent and never fires on a guess.
What do I get with Unhooked Pro?
Phases 2 and 3 of the 90-day repair path, the relationship pattern review, the relapse forecast built from your own entries, and PDF timeline export. It is $29.99 a year or $6.99 a month. There is no free trial — Phase 1 of the path is permanently free instead, along with the counter, journal, urge button, crisis resources and text export.
Why does the relapse forecast say it doesn't have enough data?
Because it would rather say nothing than invent a pattern. It needs at least 10 logged urges before it will show you hours, weekdays and triggers — until then it tells you how many more it needs.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or tap Manage subscription in the You tab. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next renewal. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Cancelling never locks your journal or your counter.
Which iPhones and languages are supported?
Unhooked needs iOS 17 or later. It ships in English, 简体中文, Español, Français, Português (Brasil) and 日本語, and follows your system language — the daily content and the 90-day path are translated too, not just the buttons.
Is this therapy?
No. Unhooked is a self-reflection tool, not medical or psychological treatment and not a substitute for a professional. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line — the app ships with a free, offline list.
